Raja Yoga

Raja Yoga

Commonly referred to as ‘Royal Yoga’ or ‘Royal Union’, Raja Yoga emphasizes on the importance of achieving mental control. Raja Yoga states that the divine nature of our Self is often disturbed by various overthinking qualities of the mind. This form of Yoga attempts to make the mind absolutely still and pure, which can help our Self transcend the various mental limits.

The Mind Matters
Modern lives are full of frantic actions. With so many objectives in our lives and things to keep in balance, the mind keeps working on overdrive for most of the time. Right till the time that we go to sleep, our mind is constantly active, and thinking about a lot of things. Most of these things create disturbing ripples in the mind, which is a barrier to spiritual liberation.

Raja Yoga is all about taming, and most importantly, training the mind. The chaos that unravels in our mind, if meditated upon, will start to make no sense, and the ultimate goal of Raja Yoga is to rid these chaotic elements from the mind. We can only know our true and divine self if we learn to calm our minds. It can be compared with how a king rules his kingdom. Just like the king needs to control his kingdom, we too, need to keep control of the immense territory within the mind. Only then will spiritual liberation be possible.
