Salabhasana

The Salabhasana is a posture or asana which falls under the category of Hatha Yoga. Popularly known as the Locust Pose in the west, practitioners achieve resemblance to a locus at rest on the ground in the final position of this asana. People who suffer from lower back pain are often suggested the Salabhasana for its positive effects.

How to Go About It
  • Lie down with your back facing up, with arms resting on the side and rest your forehead on the floor as well.
  • While breathing out, raise your legs steadily. You may or may not raise the hands with the palms up. While experts choose to raise their hands, it might be very difficult for rookies to do the same.
  • The final position has to be maintained for a minimum of 30 seconds. It is recommended to repeat the asana thrice.
